An incomplete list of answers to an incomplete list of questions

  • Anyone! You don’t have to be a professional writer or artist and you don’t need to have been published before.

  • Visit our submissions page and send us your manuscript via email.

  • Saltmine and the author split the profits of sold books 50/50. So, if we sell a book for $20 and make $10 on the sale, you would receive $5.

  • Send us what you can in manuscript form, and provide additional photos, storyboards, diagrams, and notes to explain whatever it is that needs explaining.

  • It depends entirely on the type of content. Straightforward manuscripts take less time, while complicated formats obviously need special time and attention. We’ll be in communication with you through the entire process and you’ll know what to expect.

  • Unfortunately, no. We’re currently a small team with a limited budget so we have to be choosy about submissions.

  • In order to streamline our process for our small team, all Saltmine books will follow the aesthetics seen in ‘The Fern House’. Pictures will change with relevant content as will typefaces. We do not accept cover designs from other sources at this time.

  • Your book will be sold here, on the website, which will be promoted through Saltmine’s social media outlet. We will also distribute your book to handfuls of local bookstores throughout the United States.

  • No. Your work belongs to you, before and after you submit it to Saltmine. If you decide you want to publish your work elsewhere after working with us, that is your choice entirely.
